Counselling in Edinburgh for individuals and couples
When something needs to shift
Maybe you’ve been managing for a long time. Keeping things going, looking after other people, trying to cope or simply getting on with life.
But something doesn’t feel right anymore.
You might feel overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, stuck in familiar patterns or unsure what you actually need. Perhaps your relationships are difficult, or you’ve reached a point where the ways you’ve always coped aren’t working as well as they used to.
You don’t need to have all the answers before coming to counselling. We can start with where you are and work out what’s happening together.
I offer individual counselling in Edinburgh and online, and couples counselling in Edinburgh and online. My approach is warm, relational and collaborative, giving you space to understand yourself, your relationships and what you want to change.
Currently Taking on New Clients
I currently have a small number of spaces available for individual counselling and couples counselling.
Individual counselling
Online — Tuesdays: 1:30pm or 3pm
Face-to-face in Edinburgh — Thursday: 3:30pm
Couples counselling

Individual counselling
When you’re used to carrying a lot on your own
You might be someone who is capable, responsible and used to getting on with things. Perhaps other people see you as someone who copes well, while underneath you’re struggling.
You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, overwhelm, difficulties with self-worth, the effects of trauma, relationship difficulties or challenges connected with neurodivergence.
Sometimes there isn’t one obvious reason why you’re struggling. You may simply know that something needs to change.
Counselling can give you space to slow down and listen to what’s happening beneath the surface. Together, we can explore your experiences, emotions, relationships and patterns of coping, and begin to understand what you need.
You don’t have to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about. We can start wherever you are.
Couples counselling
When you’ve lost your way back to each other
Perhaps you’re having the same arguments again and again. You may feel unheard, misunderstood or increasingly distant from each other.
Sometimes couples become lonely within their relationship. The love and closeness that once felt natural can become harder to find, and conversations that should bring you closer instead end in conflict, withdrawal or frustration.
I work with couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), helping you understand the patterns that have developed between you and what is happening underneath the arguments.
The aim isn’t simply to communicate better. It’s to help you both feel heard, understood and emotionally safe enough to talk about what really matters, so that you can begin to reconnect and create a more secure relationship.

A relational approach to counselling
I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted for who you are.
My approach is rooted in Person-Centred counselling. I don’t see you as a problem to be fixed, and I don’t assume that I have all the answers about what is right for you.
Instead, we work together to understand what is happening — including the thoughts, feelings, relationships and experiences that may be difficult to make sense of on your own.
I pay attention to what is happening beneath the surface, as well as to what happens between us in the counselling room. This can help you recognise patterns, understand your needs and begin to make changes that feel meaningful and sustainable.
My work is collaborative and relational, with empathy, honesty and emotional safety at its heart. I will offer perspective and challenge when it feels helpful, while respecting that you are the expert in your own life.

Why work with me?
I’m an experienced counsellor and supervisor with more than 2,000 hours of counselling practice.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as a paramedic and spent many years working in social care with people experiencing complex and challenging circumstances. These experiences have shaped the way I work today and my belief that people’s difficulties cannot always be understood separately from their relationships, experiences and wider lives.
I trained initially in Person-Centred counselling and have undertaken further training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), particularly for my work with couples.
I aim to create a counselling space where you can be yourself without having to perform, explain everything perfectly or have it all together.
Counselling in Edinburgh and online
My counselling room is in a Georgian townhouse just a few minutes’ walk from Haymarket Station in Edinburgh.
I offer:
Face-to-face counselling in Edinburgh
Individual and couples counselling from my private counselling room near Haymarket.
Online counselling
Individual counselling online for clients across the UK.
The counselling room is on the third floor and there is no lift.
